Export and delete your data

How to get a copy of everything Dropstone holds for you, and how to remove it. Conversation export, memory, project files, CLI history, and account deletion, in one place.

Available onFreeProMaxEnterpriseSigned in only.

You can take a copy of your data, and you can remove it. This page collects every route to both, since they are spread across a few places.

Export

DataHow
Conversations, artifacts, and attachment textSettings > Export data in Dropstone Chat. A download link is emailed to you and expires in 24 hours
MemoryAsk Dropstone "what do you remember about me?" and copy the list, or open /memory in the CLI and copy the entries. See See what Dropstone has learned
Project filesYou already have the originals. Download any file from its project
InvoicesBilling in your dashboard
CLI session historyOn your machine; see the CLI documentation. A session shared from the CLI is also on the server until you revoke it

The conversation export carries each conversation's messages and timestamps, the projects they sit in, the artifacts built in them, and the text Dropstone extracted from anything attached. It does not carry the original uploaded files. See What happens to the files you upload in a chat.

Delete

DataHow
One conversationIts menu in the Chat sidebar
One memoryIn the CLI, open /memory and press x on the entry, or ask Dropstone to forget it. See Change or forget a memory
A project and its filesDelete the project from Projects

What each deletion removes

A conversation takes its messages and the files attached to it. Files attached to a conversation exist so that conversation can use them, so they go when it does.

A project takes the project and its file records. The conversations inside it are kept and moved out of the project.

A shared link stops working. The conversation itself stays where it is.

An account takes the account, your usage and billing records, your notifications, and any samples collected to improve the models. If you want your conversations, project files, or memory gone, delete those yourself first.

Timing

Deletions you make from the interface take effect for you immediately. Account deletion removes the account from active systems immediately and from backups on their normal rotation. Invoices are kept as financial records for as long as the law requires.

Requests we handle for you

If you cannot complete an export or deletion yourself, or you are making a request on behalf of someone else with their authority, contact us through How to get support from the email on the account. We may need to verify that it is you before acting.

Organizations

Members of an organization export and delete their own data the same way. Organization admins can additionally remove shared memory and, through SCIM, deactivate accounts. Deleting an organization is an owner action and is arranged through support.

What an organization records, and who can read it, is a separate question: see How an organization manages its data.
