Turn on content logging
How an owner turns on full content logging for an organization, what the confirmation means, how to tell members, and how to turn it off again.
Full content logging records what members send and what the models reply, so the organization has its own record of the work. It is off unless you turn it on.
Turn it on
- Open your organization in the dashboard and go to Data.
- Under Content logging, choose Full content.
- Confirm the dialog. It states plainly that administrators will be able to read members' prompts and responses, and that members must be told.
- Tell your members. The dialog's confirmation is your acknowledgement that you will.
The setting is recorded in your audit log with your name against it, and so is the acknowledgement.
What it records
- What each member sent, and what the model replied.
- Which client it came from, which model answered, and when.
- Whether a message was shortened to fit the record.
Recording starts from the moment you turn it on. Nothing before that exists to record.
What it does not record
- Images. A message with pictures in it records the text and a note that pictures were not stored.
- Uploaded files. The file itself is never part of the record. See What happens to the files you upload in a chat.
- Instructions and tool output. Only the member's words and the model's reply.
- Memory. What a member has taught Dropstone is separate, and is not exposed by this setting.
Temporary chats are recorded too, while the setting is on. A supervised organization cannot have a channel its people can use to step outside supervision, and the app says so on the temporary chat itself: "Not saved to your history, but the organization records conversations on this account."
Who can read it
The owner, the security role, and auditors. Not administrators, deliberately, so that the person who onboards staff is not the person who can read what they wrote. Reading it is itself recorded: every view and every export writes an audit entry naming the reader, what they filtered on, and what they searched for.

Turn it off
Choose Metadata or None on the same page. Nothing new is written from that point on.
What was already recorded stays under the Data retention setting above it, which decides how long it is kept before deletion. Turn retention down as well if you want the existing record gone sooner.
