Get started with Dropstone Chat

Dropstone Chat lives at chat.dropstone.io. Sign in and you are in a conversation. This page walks the layout and a few things worth trying first.

The layout

Sidebar. The rows at the top are where you go: New chat, Chats for everything you have had, Projects for the folders work is kept in, News for the daily brief, and Skills. Below them, your conversations, grouped by project if you use them, with search at the top.

Conversation. Messages, with Dropstone's replies. When it uses a tool, reads a file, or draws on memory, it says so inline rather than silently.

Header. People for who is in the chat, Tracker for the tables Dropstone keeps, Share for the link and invitations, and the bell for notifications. On a phone they sit behind one button.

Composer. Where you type. Attach files with the paperclip or by dragging them in. Pick a model from the selector. Switch to an incognito chat from here.

Artifact panel. When Dropstone builds something you can see, a page, a chart, a document, it opens beside the conversation. See Artifacts.

Hover a reply and a row of controls appears under it: copy, read aloud, comment, rate, retry, fork. See What the buttons around a reply do.

First things to try

Ask it something real. Not a test question, something you actually need. Dropstone is at its best on genuine work.

Correct it. The first time it does something you would do differently, say so. That correction becomes a memory and it holds from then on. This is the single most useful habit; see How an agent learns as it works.

Upload a document. Drop in a PDF or a spreadsheet and ask about it. See Upload files and documents.

Ask what it remembers. After a few conversations, ask "what do you remember about me?" and see the list. See See what Dropstone has learned.

Conversations

Rename a conversation from its menu in the sidebar, or let Dropstone title it automatically from the first exchange.

Move a conversation into a project from the same menu.

Delete a conversation from its menu. Deleting a conversation does not remove anything Dropstone learned from it; memory is separate. See Memory and your privacy.

Share a conversation with a link or with specific people. See Share a conversation.

Messages while it is working

You can send another message while Dropstone is still working on the previous one. It queues them, keeps track of each, and tells you when it has answered one so nothing is quietly dropped.

Signed-in everywhere

Chat and your dashboard share a session in the same browser. Your memory, your plan, and your usage allowance are the same ones the CLI and SDK use. See Where can I use Dropstone?.
