Notifications
The bell in Dropstone Chat, and what arrives in it: a mention in a shared chat, or an announcement from the chat's owner. How to tell them apart, and what the browser permission changes.
The bell in the header is where a shared chat tells you something happened while you were elsewhere. Before there is anything to show, it says so: "Nothing yet. You'll hear when somebody mentions you in a shared chat."
What arrives
A mention. Someone names you in a shared chat, in a comment, or under a highlight. The entry says who, which chat, and what they said.
An announcement. The chat's owner posts a rule for everyone, such as "no deploys until Tuesday". Dropstone follows it for the rest of the chat.
Each entry carries the time and a mark for what kind it is: an @ for a mention, a megaphone for an announcement. Dropstone's own mentions carry its verified mark. Unread entries have a dot, and Mark all as read clears them together. Clicking an entry opens the chat at the thing it is about.
Mentions and the assistant
Dropstone answers when it is named in a comment or a highlight note, beside the passage rather than in the conversation. See Comments, mentions, and asking Dropstone in a thread.
Browser notifications
The first time something arrives, the browser asks whether Dropstone may show notifications. Say no and the bell still works; nothing appears over your other windows. If they are blocked, the bell says which site setting turns them back on.
