Invite people to a chat
Invite people into a live Dropstone chat as editors, who can ask Dropstone, or viewers, who can read and talk to people. One invite link per chat, a People button that shows who is in it and who is online, and an activity log for the owner.
Inviting people puts them in the live chat, with their own name and face. It is different from sharing a link, which hands out a frozen, read-only copy that anyone can open without signing in. Only the chat's owner can invite.
Editors and viewers

A viewer cannot ask Dropstone. Their messages go to the people in the chat, not to the model. Change someone's role at any time from the People button.
Invite someone
- Open the chat and click Share.
- Under Invite people to this chat, choose Editor or Viewer.
- Click Copy invite link and send it to them.
- They open the link, see whose chat it is and what the link grants, sign in, and join.
There is one invite link per chat. It carries the role, so making it again with the other role changes what it grants from then on; people who already joined keep the role they joined with until you change it.
See who is in the chat
The People button in the chat header shows the faces of everyone in the chat, with a cyan dot for who is here right now. Click it for three pages:
- Online: who has the chat open at the moment. The header counts them, so the button reads "1 online" without opening it.
- Everyone: every member with their role. The owner can make someone an editor or a viewer, or remove them from the chat, and the invite link is here too.
- Activity (owner only): who joined, opened the chat, sent a message, or commented, and when.
Each person carries their role as a badge beside their name, in both lists. The person who owns the chat is the Admin, in the solid cyan badge; everyone else shows Editor or Viewer. The badge is the quickest way to see who can change the chat without opening the roles. A row also says whether they are here now, how many messages they have sent, and when they joined.
On a phone, People, the tracker, mentions and Share sit behind one button in the header.
Remove someone
Open People, then Everyone, and choose Remove from chat beside their name. They lose access immediately, including to the live updates. Anything they wrote stays in the chat.
What people can see
Everyone in the chat sees the same conversation: every message with who sent it, Dropstone's replies and reasoning, comments, highlights, announcements, and the tracker. They do not see your other chats, your files in projects, or your memory. Dropstone may say it drew on one of your memories, but the memory itself is not shown.
Note
An incognito chat cannot have people invited to it. Start a normal chat for anything you intend to work on together.
