Fork a chat

Fork copies the conversation up to a chosen reply into a new chat of your own, so you can take a discussion in a different direction without disturbing the original. The new chat knows everything said up to that point.

Fork copies the conversation up to a reply into a new chat of your own. Hover the reply you want to branch from and choose Fork at the end of its action row. The new chat opens with every message up to and including that reply, and nothing after it.

Use it when a shared chat is about to go somewhere only you care about, when you want to try a different answer to the same question without cluttering the original, or when a conversation has done its job and you want to continue one thread of it on your own.

A fork copies the conversation, not the work that produced it: the messages and replies come across, the tool runs, artifacts and trackers behind them do not. The people in the original chat are not in the fork; it is yours, and you can invite them if you want. The original chat is untouched.
